MR. UPALI WEERAKOON APPOINTED AS A MEMBER OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON COCONUT & COCONUT BASED PRODUCTS.


 

Mr. Upali Weerakoon appointed as a Member of the Advisory Committee on Coconut & Coconut based products Sector by Hon Dr. Bandula Gunawardana, Minister of Trade , for a period of five years commencing from 15th July 2021 as per the EDB Act no 40 of 1979.

Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) is Sri Lanka’s premier organisation for the development and promotion of exports, established in 1979 under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act No. 40, under the influence and guidance of the International Trade Center (ITC) and the United Nations Conference on Development of Trade & Tariffs (UNCTAD).


Established as the executive body of the Export Development Council of Ministers headed by the President of Sri Lanka, SLEDB is the organisation responsible for the development and promotion of exports of Sri Lanka.

Bio Substrate Sri Lanka adds its latest export destination Kenya, for cocopeat products with the support of Sri Lankan Embassy in Kenya.

  Following the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Development Coordination and Monitoring, and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development, Namal Rajapaksa, and a business delegation's visit to Kenya, the first two containers of coconut substrate products were flagged off today. The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Kenya, Excellency ,Velupillai Kananathan, and the Chairman of the coconut development authority, Mr. Keerthi Sri Weerasinghe, graced this occasion. Bio Substrate (Pvt) Ltd – Madampe, a 100% Sri Lankan own company, is the producer and exporter of the consignment.
